Resident Evil 3 – PS4

Outrun an unstoppable pursuer — Resident Evil 3 remakes the 1999 original, sending Jill Valentine through a collapsing Raccoon City hunted by the terrifying Nemesis.

Product Description

Released in April 2020 by Capcom, Resident Evil 3 remakes the original 1999 title using the same RE Engine and over-the-shoulder perspective from the RE2 remake. It follows Jill Valentine, a S.T.A.R.S. officer trying to escape Raccoon City during the outbreak's escalation, hunted relentlessly by Umbrella's bio-weapon, Nemesis — a mutated pursuer that can use weapons and adapt between encounters.

Compared to RE2, this remake leans more action-oriented, with faster, more mobile combat (including a dodge mechanic) and larger, more open city-street environments. The remake also bundles Resident Evil Resistance, an asymmetric multiplayer mode where one player controls a "Mastermind" deploying traps against four survivors.

Reception was positive though more mixed than RE2's, with critics praising Nemesis's design and combat improvements while noting the campaign is noticeably shorter and cuts some content present in the 1999 original.

Similar Games

If you enjoy Resident Evil 3's relentless-pursuer horror, you'll also want to try Resident Evil 2, the preceding remake sharing the same engine and setting; Alien: Isolation, another game built around evading a single, intelligent, persistent threat; and Dead by Daylight, which turns the "one hunter versus survivors" concept into a full asymmetric multiplayer format.
