Why choose a rugged watch
An ordinary smartwatch can survive a gym session. A rugged watch is designed for knocks, mud, rain and long days outside. The T-Rex 3 uses a military-grade durability approach, a raised bezel to protect the glass and a steel bezel, so it handles scrapes better than a lifestyle watch.
Battery, navigation and tracking
The 700 mAh battery is the main strength. Amazfit rates it at up to around 27 days of typical use, and reviewers list long GPS modes for hiking and climbing that run for well over 100 hours. Dual-band GPS improves accuracy in canyons, forests and cities, and offline maps let you navigate without a phone signal. One reviewer's test found GPS accuracy good for 2024 but not class-leading, and noted that loading GPX routes is clumsy.
What it doesn't have
The T-Rex 3 has no built-in flashlight, speaker or microphone. The T-Rex 3 Pro, also in our range, adds those, plus sapphire glass and a titanium bezel.
