Assassin's Creed Shadows – PS5

The franchise's long-awaited feudal Japan setting — Assassin's Creed Shadows delivers a dual-protagonist story across a beautifully rendered Sengoku-era Japan.

Product Description

Assassin's Creed Shadows was developed by Ubisoft Quebec and published by Ubisoft, releasing in March 2025. It's the franchise's first mainline entry set in feudal Japan, a setting fans had long requested, following two distinct protagonists: Naoe, a fictional shinobi assassin, and Yasuke, a historically documented African samurai who served under warlord Oda Nobunaga during Japan's Sengoku period.

The dual-protagonist structure lets players shift between Naoe's stealth-and-parkour-focused playstyle and Yasuke's more direct, powerful combat approach, both navigating a large, seasonally-changing open world recreating 16th-century Japan with detailed castle, village, and countryside environments. The game returns to some of the deeper RPG progression systems of the Origins/Odyssey/Valhalla trilogy while incorporating specific stealth refinements drawing on lessons from Mirage's more focused design.

Given this is a very recent release, prospective buyers should check current reviews and community reception directly, as detailed critical consensus continues to develop; historically, mainline numbered Assassin's Creed entries set in highly anticipated new settings have generated substantial player interest and detailed early critical coverage worth reviewing before purchase.
