MindsEye – PS5

Product Description

MindsEye was developed by Build A Rocket Boy (a studio founded by former Grand Theft Auto producer Leslie Benzies) and published by IO Interactive Partners, releasing on June 10, 2025. It's a single-player action-thriller set in the near-future desert city of Redrock, following Jacob Diaz, a former soldier haunted by fragmented memories tied to a neural implant, as he uncovers a conspiracy involving artificial intelligence and corporate power.

The game's launch was widely regarded as one of the most troubled of 2025 — advance review copies weren't distributed ahead of release (often a warning sign), and the game shipped with significant performance issues, bugs, and content that felt thin relative to its ambitions, resulting in an extremely poor critical and commercial reception and staff layoffs at the studio shortly after. However, the developer has continued releasing regular content and stability updates in the months since, and by early 2026, community reception on some platforms had shifted to "Mostly Positive" for its recent updates, even as its overall lifetime rating remains mixed. IO Interactive's publishing partnership with the studio was reportedly wound down in early 2026.

Similar Games

If you're interested in a similar setting or premise but want a game with a smoother launch history, you may prefer Cyberpunk 2077, another near-future dystopian action game (itself troubled at launch but now widely praised after years of updates); Watch Dogs Legion for another open, near-future city setting; or Control for a different, more consistently well-reviewed atmospheric single-player action game.
