Resident Evil 4 – PS4

A genre-defining classic, rebuilt — this Resident Evil 4 remake reconstructs the legendary 2005 original that reshaped third-person action games.

Product Description

The original Resident Evil 4 (2005), directed by Shinji Mikami, is widely credited with pioneering the modern over-the-shoulder third-person shooter template that influenced countless games afterward — including the RE2 and RE3 remakes themselves. This listing covers Capcom's 2023 remake, built on the RE Engine, which refines the combat, pacing, and characters of that landmark original while preserving its core identity.

The story follows U.S. agent Leon S. Kennedy, sent to a remote European village to rescue the President's kidnapped daughter, Ashley. The mission spirals into a fight against a parasite-controlled cult and grotesque bio-organic creatures tied to Umbrella's successor organizations. The remake substantially reworks Ashley's AI and stealth options, adds a knife-parry system for close-quarters combat, and expands several story and character beats compared to the original.

Reception at release was extremely strong, with many critics and longtime fans regarding it as one of the best remakes Capcom has produced, praised for successfully modernizing the original's combat and pacing without losing its distinct tone and set-pieces.
