Deathloop – PS5

Break the loop or die trying — Deathloop delivers a stylish, time-looping first-person shooter from the acclaimed studio behind Dishonored.

Product Description

Deathloop was developed by Arkane Lyon and published by Bethesda Softworks, releasing in September 2021 as a PS5 console exclusive at launch before later expanding to other platforms. It follows Colt, an assassin trapped in a mysterious time loop on the island of Blackreef, who must eliminate eight key targets within a single day before the loop resets, gradually piecing together clues and strategies across repeated attempts to break free permanently.

The game combines Arkane's signature immersive-sim design philosophy — emphasizing player choice, environmental storytelling, and creative problem-solving — with stylish, 1960s-inspired art direction and a unique asynchronous multiplayer element, where another player can invade your world as the assassin Julianna, tasked with hunting you down. Colt's growing knowledge of the loop, combined with unlockable powers and weapons that persist between loop resets, drives a satisfying sense of long-term progression within a structurally looping story.

Critical reception was very strong, winning multiple Game of the Year nominations and awards in 2021, praised particularly for its clever loop-based mission design, stylish presentation, and successful blend of narrative mystery with replayable, systemic gameplay.
