Borderlands 4 – PS5

The definitive looter-shooter returns — Borderlands 4 introduces a new planet, new Vault Hunters, and expanded traversal to the beloved chaotic loot-and-shoot formula.

Product Description

Borderlands 4 was developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K, releasing on PS5 in September 2025 as the fifth mainline entry in the long-running Borderlands series. Set six years after Borderlands 3, the story follows a new group of Vault Hunters arriving on the ancient planet Kairos, joining its local resistance to find the planet's Vault and overthrow the tyrannical ruler known as the Timekeeper.

Built on Unreal Engine 5, the game introduces new traversal abilities including wall-climbing and gliding, alongside an overhauled loot system where weapons now drop with visibly distinct parts from familiar in-universe manufacturers like Vladof and Maliwan, adding further variety to the series' signature "bazillions of guns" premise. Gearbox also confirmed a deliberate tonal shift, dialing back some of Borderlands 3's more divisive humor. The game received generally favorable reviews from critics at launch, with praise for returning to form as a satisfying, well-tuned looter-shooter, alongside full crossplay support and up to four-player online and local co-op.
