Rise of the Tomb Raider – PS4

The middle chapter of the acclaimed Tomb Raider reboot trilogy — Rise of the Tomb Raider expands on 2013's survival-focused reinvention with larger hub areas and deeper crafting.

Product Description

Rise of the Tomb Raider was developed by Crystal Dynamics (with Nixxes Software handling the PS4 port) and published by Square Enix, originally releasing on Xbox platforms in November 2015 before arriving on PS4 in October 2016 as the "20 Year Celebration" edition, which bundled all previously released downloadable content. It's the sequel to 2013's Tomb Raider reboot and the second entry in the trilogy that concluded with Shadow of the Tomb Raider in 2018.

The story follows Lara Croft on an expedition to Siberia in pursuit of the legendary lost city of Kitezh, rumored to hold the secret to immortality, while being pursued by a secretive paramilitary organization called Trinity who seek the same prize. Building on the survival mechanics introduced in the 2013 reboot, Rise expanded the crafting system, introduced larger, more open semi-open-world hub regions to explore between story missions, and refined the tomb-puzzle content that had become a signature feature of the series' modern era.

The game was well received critically, with particular praise for its tomb puzzle design, environmental variety, and refinements over the already well-regarded 2013 original, though some reviewers noted the story felt less tightly paced than its predecessor given the larger optional content volume.

Q: Does this PS4 version include all DLC?

A: Yes, the PS4 release arrived as the "20 Year Celebration" edition, bundling previously released downloadable content with the base game.

Q: How much of the gameplay is puzzle-solving versus combat?
