PS4 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan

Cooperative turtle action — TMNT: Mutants in Manhattan brings all four Turtles into fast, chaotic beat-'em-up combat against iconic villains.

Product Description

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan was developed by PlatinumGames (known for stylish action titles like Bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance) and published by Activision, releasing in May 2016. It lets players control Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, or Raphael individually or in up to four-player cooperative play, battling through New York City against classic TMNT villains including Shredder, Bebop, Rocksteady, and Krang.

Leveraging PlatinumGames' action-game pedigree, the combat aims for a fast, combo-driven, stylish beat-'em-up feel distinct from more methodical licensed character-action games, with each Turtle offering a distinct playstyle and weapon type reflecting their traditional characterizations. The game's structure emphasizes cooperative team-based combat encounters and boss battles against recognizable franchise antagonists across a relatively compact campaign.

Critical reception was mixed, with reviewers acknowledging some fun, chaotic four-player cooperative combat moments and appreciating PlatinumGames' action pedigree showing through in places, while broader criticism focused on repetitive mission structure, a short overall campaign, and technical performance issues that fell short of the developer's usual standards for polish.
