Black Myth: Wukong – PS5

A landmark achievement for Chinese AAA gaming — Black Myth: Wukong delivers stunning, mythology-inspired action-RPG combat that became one of the fastest-selling games ever.

Product Description

Black Myth: Wukong was developed and published by Game Science, releasing in August 2024 as the studio's debut major title and the first installment in the planned Black Myth series. Built on Unreal Engine 5, it casts you as the Destined One, a staff-wielding monkey warrior on a journey to recover six relics tied to the legendary Sun Wukong's six senses, drawing directly from the classical Chinese novel Journey to the West.

The game combines cinematic, boss-focused combat inspired partly by the Soulslike genre with a strong emphasis on spectacle, striking art direction, and faithfully adapted mythological abilities and transformations. It became a landmark commercial success, selling over 10 million copies within days of launch and over 20 million within its first month, making it one of the fastest-selling games of all time and a significant milestone for AAA game development originating from China. Critical reception was generally favorable, holding a "Strong" aggregate rating, with praise for its combat feel, boss variety, and visual presentation, alongside some criticism of its largely linear, boss-rush-style level structure and early technical performance issues (subsequently improved through post-launch patches).
