The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR – PS4

An entire fantasy epic in virtual reality — Skyrim VR brings Bethesda's massive, beloved open-world RPG into full PS VR immersion.

Product Description

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR was developed and published by Bethesda Game Studios/Bethesda Softworks, releasing in April 2018, adapting the acclaimed 2011 open-world RPG (and its subsequent "Special Edition" remaster content) specifically for PS VR headsets. It represents the complete Skyrim experience — the full main quest, guild storylines, and the enormous, densely detailed open world of Skyrim — rebuilt for room-scale and seated VR play using PS Move controllers or a standard DualShock controller.

As one of the largest, most content-rich games ever adapted for VR at the time of its release, Skyrim VR retains essentially all of the base Skyrim Special Edition's content, including its expansive main story following the player as the prophesied "Dragonborn" battling a returning dragon threat, alongside dozens of hours of side quests, guild storylines, and the game's famously extensive, player-driven exploration and character-building systems, now experienced with a genuine sense of scale and presence unique to VR.

Reception was strongly positive within the VR space specifically, widely regarded as a landmark demonstration of a full, substantial open-world RPG translated successfully into virtual reality, though some criticism focused on VR-specific control adaptations feeling occasionally awkward compared to the traditional flat-screen version, and the sheer scale of the game pushing against some technical limitations of period VR hardware.

Similar Games

If you enjoy Skyrim VR's immersive open-world fantasy RPG scale, you'll also want to try the standard flat-screen version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Special Edition) for the same content without VR requirements; The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for another massive, richly detailed fantasy RPG; and other PS VR titles like Gran Turismo Sport's VR mode for a different genre demonstrating similarly ambitious VR scale.
