Tennis World Tour – PS4

A simulation-focused tennis title from genre veterans — Tennis World Tour aims for realistic shot mechanics and licensed professional players.

Product Description

Tennis World Tour was developed by Big Ant Studios (a developer with a strong background in sports simulation titles, including prior cricket and rugby games) and published by Nacon (then known as Bigben Interactive), releasing in May 2018. It positioned itself as a realistic tennis simulation, featuring a roster of licensed professional players and an emphasis on shot-timing precision and player-specific playstyles rather than the more arcade-accessible approach of some rival tennis franchises.

The game included a career mode allowing players to develop a custom pro through a season structure, alongside standard exhibition and online multiplayer modes, aiming to fill a gap in the tennis sports-sim genre following a period with fewer major console tennis releases. Its emphasis on simulation-style mechanics required more deliberate timing and positioning than pick-up-and-play arcade tennis titles.

Reception at launch was mixed, with reviewers acknowledging the ambition to deliver a more simulation-focused tennis experience while noting technical issues, animation quality concerns, and a career mode that some felt lacked depth compared to expectations for the genre; a sequel, Tennis World Tour 2, followed with technical refinements addressing some launch criticisms.
