Resident Evil 2 – PS4

A landmark horror remake — Resident Evil 2 rebuilds the 1998 classic from the ground up with modern over-the-shoulder controls and a genuinely tense reimagining of Raccoon City.

Product Description

Developed and published by Capcom, Resident Evil 2 released in January 2019 as a full remake of the original 1998 PlayStation classic, built on Capcom's RE Engine (the same engine debuted in Resident Evil 7). Rather than a simple visual refresh, this is a ground-up reconstruction: the fixed camera angles and tank controls of the original are replaced with a modern over-the-shoulder third-person perspective, while the story and setting remain faithful to the source material.

You play as either rookie cop Leon S. Kennedy or college student Claire Redfield, both arriving in Raccoon City on the night a viral outbreak turns its population into flesh-eating zombies. The two campaigns intersect and diverge, with a "Zapping System" carried over from the original that has choices in one character's playthrough affect the other's. The Raccoon City Police Department — reimagined as a dense, puzzle-filled precinct — became one of the most acclaimed setting designs in modern survival horror, praised for its layout and constant tension from limited ammo and the relentless "Mr. X" stalker enemy.

The remake was a major critical and commercial success, winning multiple Game of the Year and "Best Remake" honors in 2019, and is frequently credited with helping revive mainstream interest in the survival horror genre.
