The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra in 12GB/512GB is the sweet-spot configuration for buyers who want every ounce of Samsung's flagship foldable capability without paying a premium for storage they'll never use. Same 200MP camera, same S Pen, same Armor FlexHinge and 8.0-inch display as the top-tier model — just right-sized RAM and storage for the vast majority of genuinely demanding users.
Samsung's Z Fold 8 Ultra is built for creators, professionals, and power users, and 512GB of storage comfortably covers extensive photo libraries, a large app collection, and regular 4K video capture without the anxiety of running out of space — all while keeping the price meaningfully below the 1TB tier. Paired with 12GB of RAM, multitasking through Samsung DeX and running multiple demanding apps simultaneously remains smooth and genuinely capable.

Both configurations share identical chip, display, camera, and hinge hardware — the only difference is RAM and storage. 512GB is genuinely sufficient for the large majority of Z Fold 8 Ultra buyers, including regular photographers, professionals managing large document libraries, and anyone using DeX for productivity work. Reserve the 1TB/16GB tier specifically for extensive 4K or 8K video shooting, or workflows where you're running several storage-heavy applications simultaneously without ever wanting to manage space. For most buyers, this 512GB configuration represents the smarter value.
Against Google's foldable flagship, the Z Fold 8 Ultra's 200MP main camera and full S Pen support remain genuine advantages no Pixel currently matches. The Pixel 11 Pro Fold counters with full IP68 water resistance (versus this phone's IP48) and Google's Gemini AI features arriving first. If stylus productivity and camera resolution are priorities, the Z Fold 8 Ultra remains the stronger choice.
If you're deciding between Samsung's foldable and its standard flagship, the choice comes down to form factor rather than raw capability. The S26 Ultra offers a similar 200MP camera and S Pen in a conventional slab body at a lower price point, while the Z Fold 8 Ultra adds a genuinely tablet-sized inner display and true multitasking through DeX — a meaningfully different, more versatile experience if you value that extra screen real estate for work or media.
